CHI Farms, Aviagen Mark 20 Years of Partnership to Boost Nigeria’s Poultry Productivity

A two-decade partnership between CHI Farms Limited and global poultry breeding company Aviagen is strengthening access to improved broiler genetics, technical expertise and farmer support in Nigeria, as both companies renew their commitment to the country’s poultry industry.

The collaboration has helped poultry producers across Nigeria access Arbor Acres breeding stock and technical knowledge designed to improve flock performance under local production conditions.

Over the years, the relationship has expanded beyond the supply of breeding genetics to include farmer training, knowledge exchange and closer engagement with customers, with the aim of helping producers achieve better results.

CHI Farms, an integrated agribusiness company and a member of the Tropical General Investments (TGI) Group, said the partnership had contributed to improving productivity and supporting the wider development of Nigeria’s poultry sector.

The company has worked with poultry producers in Nigeria since 1986, helping farmers improve flock performance and respond to rising demand for poultry products. Its collaboration with Aviagen has further enhanced its ability to provide breeding genetics and technical support to the market.

Speaking as the partnership marked 20 years, CHI Farms Managing Director Dr Olatunji Olaitan Olaofe described the anniversary as an important milestone for the company and its stakeholders.

He said the company’s priority had remained delivering value to customers while responding to changing market needs, adding that Aviagen’s support and the confidence of poultry farmers had been central to the partnership’s progress.

Aviagen’s Business Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa, Florian Blevin, also praised CHI Farms for its longstanding contribution to Nigeria’s poultry industry.

Blevin said the partnership had helped make Arbor Acres genetics accessible to poultry producers throughout the country. He described the 20-year relationship as a significant achievement and commended the CHI Farms team for its continued commitment to serving the sector.

He further expressed confidence that the two companies would continue working together to support Nigerian poultry farmers.

Arbor Acres breeding programmes focus on a combination of reproductive performance, efficient broiler growth, livability and meat yield. These traits give producers flexibility to meet different production and market demands.

Through its relationship with Aviagen, CHI Farms has continued to develop its capacity to offer farmers breeding solutions and technical guidance suited to Nigeria’s production environments.

As the country’s poultry industry continues to develop, access to reliable genetics, practical technical knowledge and sustained farmer support remains important in improving production efficiency and meeting demand for poultry products.

CHI Farms said it would continue drawing on its experience in the Nigerian market and its strategic partnerships to help producers improve performance, strengthen food production and contribute to a more productive and sustainable poultry industry.

The anniversary underscores the value of long-term partnerships in connecting poultry farmers with breeding resources, technical expertise and support that can improve production outcomes.
