According to a report by ReportLinker, Zimbabwe’s poultry meat consumption is projected to reach 66.2 thousand metric tons by 2026, representing a slight decrease of 0.7% from 2021 levels. In 2017, Zimbabwe ranked 97th globally in poultry meat consumption, with Uganda leading at 69 thousand metric tons. The United States, Brazil, and Russia followed in second, third, and fourth place, respectively.
On the production side, Zimbabwe’s poultry meat production is expected to increase to 72.4 thousand metric tons by 2026, reflecting a growth of 0.8% from 2021. Since 2017, the country has experienced a year-on-year increase in production of 1.5%, ranking 87th in 2021, with Slovenia surpassing it with 69 thousand metric tons. China, Brazil, and Russia were the top three producers globally, coming in second, third, and fourth, respectively.
The report also includes forecasts for various sectors of the Zimbabwean poultry market from 2024 to 2028, such as the gross production of indigenous duck and chicken meat (in thousand U.S. dollars, purchasing power parity from 2004 to 2006), poultry meat market size volume (in thousand metric tons), poultry meat import volume (in thousand metric tons), and poultry meat protein supply per capita (in grams per capita per day).
