The Poultry Practical Training Initiative has been launched in Tanzania in collaboration with the Netherlands

This week marked the launch of a transformative initiative in Tanzania, stemming from a partnership between the Tanzania Livestock Training Agency (LITA) and the Aeres Training Center from the Netherlands. This initiative aims to develop a comprehensive and specialized poultry curriculum designed to provide hands-on training and education in poultry management practices. Such education is vital for increasing the productivity, efficiency, and sustainability of the poultry sector in Tanzania, particularly in light of the nation’s growing population, which is currently estimated at over 60 million people.

The Embassy of the Netherlands in Tanzania wishes to express profound gratitude to the co-organizers, the Southern Agricultural Growth Corridor of Tanzania (SAGCOT) and Think Tank Tanzania, for their exemplary planning and execution of this significant event. Their dedication and foresight have been critical in gathering stakeholders and setting the stage for collaboration. The Embassy also acknowledges the invaluable support from the Netherlands Embassy Team, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), LITA, and the Aeres Training Center. Each organization has played a crucial role in crafting this initiative’s goals and framework, ensuring its success.

Furthermore, we would like to highlight the essential contributions of various public and private knowledge institutes, poultry businesses, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies. Their input during discussions has provided vital insights and expertise, allowing for the creation of a specialized poultry practical curriculum that is tailored to meet the evolving demands of the industry. This curriculum will encompass various topics, including modern breeding techniques, disease management, feed optimization, and sustainable farming practices, as stated by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Tanzania.

Together, we are embarking on a transformative journey to facilitate specialized poultry practical training. This initiative not only aims to bolster the domestic poultry sector but also to pave the way for a more productive, efficient, and sustainable agricultural environment in Tanzania and beyond. By empowering individuals with comprehensive skills and knowledge, we are setting the stage for a robust poultry industry that can significantly contribute to food security and economic development in the region, as per the official statement by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Tanzania
