TİKA’s Poultry Initiative Promises Economic Growth and Food Security in Somalia

TİKA supports the “Breeding Broiler Production Project,” which promotes sustainable development in Somalia. A high-yielding broiler breed will be introduced as part of the project, and local farmers will receive the infrastructure, technical assistance, and training they need to become self-sufficient in chicken production. The social and economic climate of Somalia is expected to be significantly impacted by this project.

The project’s first benefit is that it will boost food security by lowering the country’s dependency on imported chicken meat. This helps keep food prices stable and ensures that people have a consistent and healthy dose of protein. TİKA encourages local production, resulting in a more robust food system that is less subject to external shocks like market changes or supply chain interruptions.

Second, the project might stimulate economic growth and the creation of jobs in rural areas. It’s possible that raising poultry might be a lucrative business that employs both men and women. TİKA equips farmers with the information and tools they need to end poverty and build sustainable lives.

Thirdly, the project helps the livestock industry as a whole grow. TİKA is incentivizing other farmers to implement comparable practices by showcasing the efficacy of contemporary poultry farming methods. This might cause Somalia’s livestock industry to become more diverse overall, raising agricultural output and revenue.

Ultimately, the effort helps to spread technology and information. Through TİKA’s training programs, Somalis are gaining the knowledge and abilities necessary to operate chicken farms profitably and environmentally. Long-term gains result from this knowledge transfer since it helps the nation build its own capacity for agricultural research and development.

TİKA’s “Breeding Broiler Production Project” is a significant step towards strengthening Somalia’s agricultural sector and improving the lives of its people. By promoting food security, creating jobs, and fostering economic development, the project is making a lasting impact on the country’s future.
