Ghana Poultry Day 2024, ASA WISHH and Agrihouse Foundation Lead the Charge for Poultry Sector Growth

The American Soybean Association (ASA), through its World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH) Program, has partnered with the Agrihouse Foundation to organize the fourth edition of Ghana Poultry Day. Scheduled for Monday, July 1, 2024, at the forecourt of the State House, this annual advocacy event seeks to establish July 1st as Ghana Poultry Day. The occasion will shine a spotlight on the myriad market opportunities, trade prospects, investment components, and nutritional benefits associated with poultry consumption.

Chris Slemp, Africa Director for ASA WISHH, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, underscoring their mission to enhance food security by promoting soy in human health and advocating for poultry as a key protein source. He acknowledged the existing challenges within Ghana’s poultry sector, but also outlined clear goals to boost education, foster knowledge sharing, and implement practical approaches for stakeholders and investors alike.

This concept was presented by Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, executive director of the Agrihouse Foundation, who also expressed gratitude to ASA WISHH for their support and funding. She underlined the commitment of the Foundation to advancing the chicken sector and ensuring food security for Ghana.

“The poultry industry is vital to our national food security and economic stability,” Akosa said. “Events like Ghana Poultry Day not only celebrate our achievements but also pave the way for future advancements.”

The program is said to be interesting and varied. A personality-advocate chef cooking competition with chefs showcasing their culinary prowess with chicken as the main component will be one of the highlights. The purpose of this competition is to highlight the health benefits and culinary variety of poultry in regular meals.

Apart from the culinary contest, there will be town hall talks about career opportunities in the business. Experts, interested parties, and financiers will convene for these talks to investigate creative approaches and tactics to surmount the difficulties confronting the chicken industry.
